My work seeks to evoke memory and communicate a sense of emptiness and fragility as well as highlight the drama of many life stories.
Calligraphy and Memory
This project is based on the testimonies of women who were victims of violence, as well as statements of women guerrillas who escaped from the ranks of the FARC. It consists of long lists of kidnapped names and letters sent from the jungle to relatives as proof of survival. The pain and emotion contained in these life stories have inspired me beyond my art, they connected me with life experiences that are often traumatic and painful.
